Frequently Asked Questions

What is “forestry” and “forest management”?

“Forestry” is the science and craft of creating, managing, planting, using, conserving and repairing forests and woodlands for associated resources for human and environmental benefits. Forestry is practiced in plantations and natural stands. The science of forestry has elements that belong to the biological, physical, social, political and managerial sciences. “Forest management” is a branch of forestry concerned with overall administrative, legal, economic, and social aspects, as well as scientific and technical aspects, such as silviculture, protection, and conservation. Forest management plays an essential role in the creation and modification of habitats, which includes wildlife, plants, and other organisms.

How related, in terms of conservation practices, are forestry/forest management and wildlife habitat management?

Very closely related. In most cases, you improve/benefit wildlife habitat by implementing forest management practices, and vice versa. Many of the forest and wildlife habitat conservation practices we employ are beneficial to both the health and quality of the physical forest AND its wildlife habitat.

Does Albert Land Management LLC have a physical address/business location we can visit?

Unfortunately, no, we have determined a business location, which can be accessed by the public, would provide little benefit to us as we perform all our services in the field. If you wish to meet with us to discuss the idea of managing your land, please consider contacting us to schedule a consultation!

Are there any programs to which I can apply for financial assistance to implement various conservation practices on my property?

Yes! We are a Technical Service Provider (TSP) for the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), an agency within the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). We frequently aid landowners with obtaining government funds to assist with covering the costs of implementing various forest and wildlife conservation practices on their property, under the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP). Most landowners and most properties are eligible to apply and receive funding; you do not have to prove financial need. However, there is an annual income cap requirement set at 900k. Click here to read more about EQIP. NRCS website for Indiana EQIP can be accessed at: Environmental Quality Incentives Program – Indiana | Natural Resources Conservation Service (usda.gov)

Where/what is your service area?

We primarily serve landowners across all of Indiana and into Northern Kentucky. However, depending on the project, we are opening to considering potential projects outside our standard service area. We frequently travel for work, so do not let our location discourage you from reaching out and inquiring about your project!

What is your forestry and/or habitat consultation fee?

Although it varies by the size of the property and distance from us, consultation fees start at $300. However, collected consultation fees are returned to you upon a signed service contract with us.

What is your forester commission rate for timber marking/timber sales?

The industry standard in Indiana is a 10% commission rate. However, our commission rate may vary depending on the size/type of harvest, harvest timeline, and distance from us.

What forms of payment do you currently accept?

We accept payments via cash, check, or Zelle. We currently do not accept credit cards.

Are you a property management company?

No, we are “land managers” and a “land management” company as it pertains to the land, specifically forestland and its wildlife habitat. We do not provide security, manage/offer hunting properties and leases, or provide general property oversight/maintenance.

I am interested in managing my land, how do I get started?

Please contact us via phone (call/text: (260) 668-9977)) or fill out the “contact us” form on our website. Our email addresses are also displayed on the “contact us” page if you prefer to compose an email and send it to us directly.
